Before the Money is a street photography book exploring the ongoing gentrification of the City of Toronto between the years of 2010 and 2018. The book was released at a solo exhibition of the same name at Northern Contemporary in May of 2018 during the Scotiabank Contact Photography Festival.

The photographs in this book are visual remnants of "Old Toronto", documenting a side of the city that is becoming forgotten and/or ignored at an ever-increasing pace. As real estate investment and suburban ideals try to slap a veneer of generic"niceness" over the city's grit - replacing unique neighbourhood character with inoffensive, shimmering banality - some of the old city still shows through, resisting the gild.

(2018) 8.5 x 11", 64 pages, full-colour, individually numbered out of 50, staple and tape-bound.

Hand-made in Parkdale, Toronto, Canada.
